Paly Girls Swim and Dive held their first home meet on Friday night against Homestead High School, historically one of the top teams and hardest contenders in the league. Paly hoped to carry their momentum from a successful double-duel meet against Saint Francis and Menlo Atherton and start the season off with a win.
The Vikings started off strong by building off of their history team spirit, with the beloved Super-Fan-Dan sending off the team with his cheer.
“It was really great to see the team spirit for our first league meet,” senior Brooke Hudacek said. “It was awesome to have everyone out on the pool deck working hard.”
With the majority of Paly swimmers back to training with the team, the Vikings put on a strong performance, especially in what was the first league meet for many new swimmers.
Ultimately, the Vikings ended up winning the meet with a score of 110-75, setting them up in a favorable position to move on in the season, especially considering that they are still getting back some swimmers as the club season ends.
“It was super exciting to have our first league meet because we have been training really hard all season,” Lydia Mitz (‘25) said.
Paly hopes to start and move on into the season ready to work hard, and hopefully have many more wins to come.
