The Paly boys’ wrestling team suited up Saturday for the Jim Root Invitational at Prospect High School. That is, the three wrestlers who are presently healthy did.
“The team was pretty light in attendance this weekend, a lot of injuries,” team captain Gary Hohbach (‘13) said. “Therefore we weren’t fully present in the team points aspect of the competition.”
The three Vikings managed to come up with 40 points, good for a 27th place finish out of 39 teams. Out of the three competitors, two placed in the tournament. Hohbach and Jordan Gans (‘14) both took home 5th place finishes, in the 160-pound and 170-pound weight classes, respectively. Alex Taussig (‘13) went 1-2 in the 195-pound weight class.
Hohbach was not pleased with the performance of the present wrestlers, saying that “performance was below average.”
The Vikings next hit the mats at a dual meet at Gunn High School this Thursday, Jan. 17.
“It’s going to be a tough dual,” Hohbach said. “We’re pretty injured right now.”
