Paly Boys Basketball played a big league game at home against Gunn High School, the 7th seed in their league.
Gunn took an early lead at the half leading by eight points. They still had a good grasp on their lead until the 4th quarter when Paly made a huge comeback bringing the game to a tie and into overtime.
During overtime, Paly and Gunn stayed neck to neck until the last seconds of OT. Gunn scored a layup in the last few seconds of overtime and took the win. Ultimately, Gunn won the cross-town rivalry game with a final score of 65-63.
“We were not at our best that game,” junior Gavin Hasse said. “We made a lot of offensive and defensive mistakes that cost us the game.”
Paly, still second in the league, plays Mountain View this Thursday and is looking to become league champions by the end of the season.
“It was definitely a disappointing loss,” junior Nicholas Feitzinger said. “It’s not often we get such a great crowd and we weren’t able to pull out a victory for them, but we have to pick our heads up and win our next two games so that we can call ourselves league champions at the end of the season.”
