As the upcoming Paly Girls Wrestling Team gets ready for their season, they are ready to improve off of their 2023-2024 performance.
With new freshman wrestlers joining the team, and lots of hard work during the off-season, the team worked hard to stay in shape and prepare so they could build off of their performance last year.
“I think some of our goals as a team is to have a strong overall season and to make sure that both jv and varsity are working hard,” sophomore Hudson Press said.
In their first official tournament at home, they are ready to defend their territory and set a strong tone for the upcoming season.
“We want to perform well during tournaments and to have more state qualifiers,” Press said.
The team also looks to continue to improve from previous seasons.
“To improve from last year, with new people on the varsity side I think it is important to look back at our matches from last year and see how we can improve from them,” Press said. “Another thing would be to emphasize being a team and helping out people on the jv side so we can all perform at our best.”
Coach Kessler is excited to kick off their season and show the rest of the league what the team can do. For Kessler, he expects dedication, perseverance, and hard work, and making sure that all the athletes bring their best effort and attitude to every practice.
Going into the season, the team is confident they will continue to build on their past victories and have a successful season this year.
