The Paly varsity boys’ soccer team beat Los Gatos 2-1 last Wednesday. Despite missing players due to injury and shaky last two games, the team was able to pull together a well-deserved win.
“I feel like with the momentum that was rebuilt in that game we were able to clutch a 2-1 win against Gatos,” senior Rahul Shetty said.
Knowing that they needed to start the game strong the team used a pregame edit to encourage themselves and focus on the game.
“We also had a little edit that hyped us up pregame and made us want to defend the Paly name even more,” sophomore Andy Comsa said.
Additionally, the boys’ soccer team won a penalty kick very early on, creating a jumpstart momentum.
“Shoutout to Rowan Teetzel for starting us off by winning a penalty and to Taishi Liu for putting it away and starting us off for momentum for the rest of the game.” sophomore Comsa said.
The team harnessed lots of team spirit and held high intensity all throughout the game.
“A lot of the credit is definitely due to our coaches and every single person on the team whether they were on the field or not we just had amazing spirit and we fought till the end we didn’t let anyone get to our head which was huge,” senior Shetty said.
With this win, the team was able to restore their team chemistry and confidence going into future games.
“We decided the pace of the game meaning we just controlled the ball, fought for every possession and I know everyone is looking forward to what we can accomplish this season,” senior Shetty said.
