Paly boy’s basketball played another league game against Mountain View, the 5th seed in their league. The Vikings hoped to carry momentum into the game from their recent heated win against cross-town rivals Gunn High School.
Paly took an early lead, moving into the second quarter with a 5-point lead. The lead didn’t last long as Mountain View, led by Jayden Minor with 16 points across the game, came back to give themselves a 2-point lead moving into the fourth quarter.
Ultimately, the Vikings didn’t let Mountain View scratch back up, and they pulled off a bare win with a final score of 45-43.
“The game was very close for most of it, but Riley pulled off a clutch 3-pointer to win it,” junior Jai Wadhwani said.
Paly was down 1 point moving into the last play when a 3-point shot from Riley Yuen with just seconds left brought them to the lead and won them the game in a spurt of heroism to erupt the team and stands in applause.
“It was probably the most exciting game we’ve had all year,” junior Nicholas Feitzinger said. “It came down to the wire but thanks to a three-pointer with 25 seconds left, we came out on top.”
