With a dominant performance, Palo Alto High School (Paly) boys soccer wins against Homestead High School with a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday night.
The match started with a quick goal putting Paly up 1-0 in the 8th minute. Paly dominated the rest of the half putting another shot in the back of the net bringing them to 2-0 in the first half.
The second half started and it was a new match. Paly had to build up the momentum they once had in the first half if they were going to put that match away. After Paly built their confidence back up they saw their opportunity to score and took it. Paly scores another goal putting them at 3-0.
A couple of minutes into the second half a Paly player went down with an injury. He was subbed out and the match continued.
According to Viking sophomore James Park, the team’s injury here was something that he thought might get in the way of their victory but he knew that they were not going to give up easily.
“We experienced an injury in the second half,“ Park said, “but I thought we played strong“
Paly held out with a passive offense and strong defense. When Paly found the opening they slipped in another goal to finish the match with a 4-0 win.
“The team was well organized and I think we played good soccer,“ Park said.
This was an important match for both teams because winning would mean a chance to qualify for the Central Coast Section (CCS). Most High School soccer player’s dream is to get their team to CCS and with the win against Homestead Paly is on the right path to qualifying for CCS.
