The girl’s varsity water polo team took a very important win at home on Tuesday, October 5th winning 12-4 to Los Altos. The game started close, both teams generating many chances on offense.  There were many missed opportunities offensively for both teams, but the Vikings took a small lead going into the half.

With the Vikes leading 5-3 at the half, they looked to extend their lead by playing a high press and a strong counterattack.

With the eagles only having two subs, the Vikings were able to pull away in the second half of the game, scoring goal after goal on the counter-attack.

Junior Samantha Lee scored 5 of the 12 goals for the Vikes.

“We had really great energy and teamwork out there today,” Lee said.

This game was a huge win for the varsity water polo team, having lost to Los Altos earlier in the season by one goal. This win puts the girls in a good position going into the league championships.

“I’m super proud of our growth as a team to be able to come back and crush a team we lost to earlier this season,” Lee said, “I’m very hopeful about our prospects for the rest of the season.”
