With college football spring games wrapping up and numerous commitments from the upcoming 2020 class, we take a look at who the top dogs of college football are today.

1. Clemson – The Clemson Tigers are at the helm of college football, and aren’t going down anytime soon. The offense, led by stud quarterback Trevor Lawrence, running back Travis Etienne, and the tandem of wide receivers Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross, look to repeat as national champs.
2. Alabama – Despite a crushing defeat in the title game this past January, the Crimson Tide of Alabama boast the number one spot in the 2019 recruiting class by a sizable margin. Projected top pick and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has an arsenal of targets to throw to, including the nation’s top receiver Jerry Jeudy.
3. Georgia – Head coach Kirby Smart has built a powerhouse at Georgia since he arrived a few years back. Although they have failed to defeat conference rival Alabama since 2007, the Bulldogs look to challenge them for the SEC throne with running back D’Andre Swift leading the charge.
4. Oklahoma – Offense, offense, offense. The Oklahoma Sooners have always placed an emphasis on the offense. With the help of star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and tailback Kennedy Brooks, the Sooners look to retain as one of the top offenses in the country.
5. Ohio State – Another team, another transfer quarterback, and this time it’s former five-star Justin Fields on the Ohio State Buckeyes. On the flip side, projected top-5 pick Chase Young looks to anchor the defense line, and strong safety Jordan Fuller is poised for a breakout season.
6. Michigan – With much of a very talented offense coming back led by Shea Patterson, Jim Harbaugh’s team is poised to have a breakout year where they can finally get over the hump. The defense has some reloading to do, but hopes are high in Ann Arbor.
7. Florida – Coming off an impressive 10-3 year with first year coach Dan Mullen that capped off with a Peach Bowl win over Michigan, expectations are as high as they’ve ever been in Gainesville, and with the talent the Gators have coming back (led by quarterback Feleipe Franks) they are unquestionably Georgia’s biggest threat in the SEC East.
8. LSU – The Tigers return their starting quarterback Joe Burrow and much of a vaunted defense from a year ago, led by safety Grant Delpit. Despite road trips to Texas and Alabama, big things could be coming on the Bayou.
9. Notre Dame – Coming off a year in which the Irish shocked everybody and made it to the CFP, the Irish return much of their team for the 2019 season. The schedule is very tough and features road games against Georgia and Michigan, but with starting QB Ian Book returning the Irish look to make a repeat trip to the Playoff.
10. Texas – The Longhorns seem to finally be revitalized after a breakout 10-4 season that led to a berth in the Big 12 Championship Game and a bowl win over Georgia. With QB Sam Ehlinger and much of a talented offense returning and games against LSU and Oklahoma, Texas has the chance to prove its place among the blue-bloods of college football.
