Paly cross-country is looking to continue its successes from last season and to fill the gap left after losing the number one SCVAL runner, Grant Morgenfeld. Not only did they lose Morgenfeld, but they lost five of their starting seven, which is being overlooked by the loss of Morgenfeld.
With this in mind, they have been training hard, but they also know how difficult it is going to be to replace those key pieces.
“It’s hard to fill the gap of such a generational talent, but the guys have been putting in a lot of work,” junior Andrei Seletskiy said. “It’s hard when you lose such a talented leader and runner like Grant Morganfeld but we also lost five of our other starting seven, and that is not something easily replaced.”
This Paly cross-country team has many gaps to fill, and filling those gaps starts with the team being in unison.
“The team chemistry is great, we go on all types of runs in groups and value team bonding whether it is team games on bus rides to and from meets or group stretching before and after practice,” Seletskiy said.
Although this Cross-Country team has many obstacles to overcome, they have been prepping hard and are ready to give it their all, with end-of-year hopes of competing in the Central Coast Section (CCS).
