Girls Lacrosse Season Recap

Paly girls lacrosse had an exciting season this year with a team dominant of underclassmen. The team ended with an overall record of five wins and nine losses, placing sixth in the SCVAL league.

The girls varsity lacrosse team lost the majority of their upperclassmen last season but is now a team of both skilled underclassmen and upperclassmen. Senior Rachel Ellisen and senior Reilly Bruff lead the team this year as captains.

During this year’s season, the team worked very hard together to work on their skill set and team chemistry.

The Vikings had a tough loss in their first game against their main opponent of theirs, The Saratoga… The Vikings had a tough first half, but during the second half they came back strong and scored more goals than the Falcons. Sadly the Vikings lost but there was still time for revenge.

The tough loss against the … was a turning point for the Vikings. During their time between their rematch against Saratoga, the Vikings decided as a team to work more on their stick skills, watched collegiate games, practiced wall ball, and worked really hard to win their rematch,

Toward the end of the season, the girls faced a rematch against Saratoga. The game was under high pressure as it was Paly lacrosse senior night. The girls came out strong, ready to take back their previous loss, and beat Saratoga 15-6.

“Everyone contributed on the field and played the best game that they could,” Senior Emily Neumann said.

It was a tough season for the Palo Alto Vikings due to losing the majority of their varsity team last year, but at the end of the season, they felt more connected with each other than they ever imagined. The future looks bright for Paly girls lacrosse, with a new generation of upperclassmen stepping up.

“We had so much love and support for each other this season,” Senior Anna Nemerov said. “We lost a lot of great players last year so I’m just so impressed with the amount of work that everyone put in to get some dubs this year.”
