The Paly girls soccer team defeated the Homestead Mustangs 2-0 this evening at home.

“It was a really fun game,” captain Kiana Feldis ’24 said. “I think we played great; [we] definitely bounced back from our last game.”

Tied 0-0 at half, the Vikings pulled out two goals in the latter part of the second half. Freshman Areet Rao scored the first, followed quickly by Feldis cinching them a secure lead with less than 5 minutes to go.

It was certainly a bounce back from Paly’s last game, where they lost 7-1 to Mountain View, who is currently undefeated and ranked first in SCVAL league.

The JV soccer team was recently merged with the varsity team, so it has been a period of transition for this team.

“It was definitely an adjustment [having new players] … but I think we’re doing a really good job working together, and the chemistry is definitely there, so I’m excited,” Feldis said.

Feldis is eager to see what this team does next coming out of this win.

“I know we’re going to continue to build and keep growing,” she said. “We’re playing Gunn [soon], which is obviously a rivalry, so the energy is gonna be really high.”

The Vikes are excited to keep playing strong through the season. Their next game is against Saratoga, next Wednesday the 18th.
