The Paly girls golf team won 219-252 against Saratoga on October 11 in their last home match of the 2023 season. The victory was even more special as it was the seniors’ last time playing with Paly on their home field.
The team originally had two seniors on the 2023 roster. However, one quit halfway through the season, which brought remaining senior Alexa Pineda to step up to a fundamental and guiding role for other players.
Pineda reflects on her leadership and senior experience on the team as the girls golf season nears its end.
“I enjoyed being a senior, being able to encourage and help all the players,” said Pineda. “I felt like a lot of them looked up to me and it just felt nice to inspire them and try to keep up the positive on the team.”
With her uplifting spirit and influence on the team, Pineda is hopeful that the team will continue to build back up to playing at the state level and optimizing a fun team atmosphere as they had a few years ago.
The team continued to work hard after their win against Saratoga in hopes of ending their season with one last triumph in their final match of the year against Gunn.
