The Paly boys varsity soccer team beat Gunn in their home game on Tuesday the 15th. Paly is able to relegate the Gunn Titans to a lower league and stave off relegation themselves. Additionally, this win prevents the Titans from making the California Central Coast Section (CCS) playoffs.
The game was a nail-biter all the way through, with the game being tied at zero up until there was ten minutes left in the game. That’s when the game-winner was headed in by junior Taishi Liu, ending Gunn’s hopes for a ticket to CCS.
“We had to win to not be relegated. With the win we not only relegated them but also prevented them from making CCS. We kinda clutched up,” junior Alec Bonnard said.
The win comes as a major victory and a satisfying win for Paly and a heart-wrenching loss for Gunn.
The team hopes to build on this win and channel this positive momentum into next years’ season.
