Coming off a tough 9-11 season, Paly Girls Tennis is looking to improve on a year of rebuilding.
“We’ve lost a few key members from last year’s team, and right now we are searching for our new team identity and how to build the lineup.” Coach Andy Harader said.
One of the key players that the team has lost was former team number one Erin Li who has moved on to play college tennis at Swarthmore. “It was very fun playing with my sister on varsity even though it was only for one year,” Tess Li (27’), Erins younger sister said.
Even though the team lost some key members. The team still holds players with great experience.
Being a freshman on varsity created opportunities for underclassmen to create great friendships with upperclassmen and learn to follow in their footsteps. “I loved meeting new people, especially bonding with upperclassmen,” Jaslynn Lee (27’) said.
The team is in the top division of their league, and will face some of the toughest teams in the state.
“Last year was a weird one where we were trying to stay alive in the league,” Coach Harader said. “This year is going to be a wild card, it will be fun.”
The team’s season kicks off with a face off this Thursday at home against Carmel, where the team will search for their first win of the season.
