As returning CIF champions and third-place finishers at CCS last season, the Paly Boys Wrestling Team is ready to keep the momentum going for this season.
With the old senior class graduated, they still has great potential to have a great season, relying on the experience gained from past seasons. The team knows that every practice, every drill, and every match will help them stay on track. They believe that the lessons learned during their previous run will guide them forward, reminding them that consistent effort and unity make all the difference.
“Our goal as a team is to win CCS this year,” junior James Otuhiva said. “We also want to bring even more people to states than last year and score a good amount of points.”
Some of the team have also set individual goals for themselves, recognizing the importance of pushing their personal limits and contributing to the team’s broader goals.
“As for me, I want to place at states,” Othuiva said. “I also want to motivate the incoming freshmen by being a role model and working hard.”
Coming into the season, the team is confident they will continue their prowess and have a successful season this year and they look forward to working hard and dominating the competition. They understand that by preserving their core values—discipline, dedication, and a willingness to push beyond comfort zones—they can remain consistent contenders.
