As the Paly girls soccer season kicks off, players are excited about how the upcoming season will look. This years team is comprised of many returning players, as last years team did not include many graduating seniors.
However, one addition to the roster is senior Kaitlin Lowry, who recently committed to further her academic and athletic career at Pepperdine University. Having Lowry on the field will definitely be an advantage to the team during the season.
With these ideas of potential, the team has been in a rigorous practice schedule and has already played in their first scrimmage against Aragon High School.
Junior Reyes Aronson is both a club soccer player and starting her third year playing for the varsity program as a full-back.
“Im really excited for the upcoming season because last year was super fun and high school soccer is generally really fun,” Aronson said. “I also have a lot of friends on the team, which will make it more fun.”
Since the season has just begun, the team has not yet adjusted to playing with one another, which was unfortunately reflected in Tuesdays scrimmage against Aragon.
“In our opening game against Aragon yesterday, we played okay considering we haven’t had much practice time or played as a team yet this season,” Aronson said. “I think we should do pretty well since our bracket isn’t that challenging.”
But, despite this loss, the girls are still optimistic about their success in future games and tournaments.
“I believe the team is going to do really well because we have a lot of different players from high level club leagues and we all have a really tight bond together which helps us on the field,” junior midfielder Areet Rao said.
The Vikings take on Menlo Atherton High School at 6:00 at home on December 12th, so make sure to come out to show your Paly pride!
