Last Thursday, the Palo Alto Vikings tied against a very competitive opponent, the Menlo Atherton Bears, in a close 2-2 game. Despite the difficult weather conditions regarding an intense rain storm, the girls were able to push through and compete at a high level
“It was really rainy and the ball was really slippery, so it was really hard for the team to control it,” junior Areet Rao said. “But this was also an advantage because our low shots were much better and it was easier to score.”
Another disadvantage for the Vikings aside from the weather, was the loss of starting midfielder, junior Reyes Aronson.
“The team played unexpectedly well considering the pouring rain, and also missing some essential players,” Aronson said. “I don’t really think we were expecting to tie because MA has been very good the last few seasons, but we came out and played our best, so I’m very happy about that.”
The next home game for the Vikings is on January 17, 2025, so mark your calendars and represent your Paly spirit!
