Paly Girls Basketball ended the season with 11 wins and 13 losses, losing in the first round of the CCS playoffs after a great 2024-25 season. Junior Cami Ogawa was one of the most veteran players on the team.
“The Mountain View game for us wasn’t our best game but we still fought hard to compete against them,” Ogawa said.
The team had won their last game and was ready for the playoffs after a strong season overall. The team got an influx of youth this season with a lot of new sophomores and freshmen, and coming off of a winless season last year, this was a drastic improvement in their performance.
“I’m most proud of how we were able to compete and keep up with other teams in our league that are mostly seniors and juniors,” sophomore Ella Hoy said. “My favorite moment of the season was the first round of playoffs against Fremont where we made a huge come-back in the second half.”
Sophomore Abby Newman was very vocal about how as the season progressed, the teams chemistry got better and better, leading to their great end-of-season run.
“At the start of the season we struggled playing together and with chemistry, but by the end of the season we were playing great with each other and we had learned everyone’s strong suits,” Newman said.
After coming off a mid-season losing streak, they ended the season on a high note winning their last 3 out of 5 games and are looking forward to build off of this momentum in the next season. They aren’t losing any players and are looking to build their connection over the offseason. The team established the groundwork this season, and are looking to get even better next year.
“I think that next season we will win a lot more games and perform better overall because we are all playing with each other now, and our whole team will be back next season,” Newman said.
The team made leaping strides this year, and hopes to continue their prowess going forward into the next season.
