Paly flag football overcame Homestead in a dominant Senior Night win at home on Wednesday, 10/15. The final score was 37-7 in favor of the Vikings.
The team focused on winning their last home game of the regular season and getting a win on Senior Night for the team’s two seniors, Kailia Leming and Danica Chew. The team was coming off a close game against Monta Vista, where the Vikings had squeezed out a 6-point win. “We felt we didn’t bring our best last game,” sophomore Yaby Ketema said. “We hoped to build on those mistakes by scoring when given the opportunity and doing a better job of stopping the other team from scoring.”
They did achieve those goals as they held Homestead to only one touchdown score while scoring numerous times themselves to widen the point differential. Homestead had a hard time stopping the Palo Alto offense, which was fueled by impressive plays from Sophomore quarterback Eleanor Wells. After some outstanding throws from Wells in the first half, the scoring gap was too wide for Homestead to come back, and the Vikings cruised to a 13-2 regular season record.
The Vikings look to win their final game of the regular season to keep their momentum going into their playoff matchup.
