On January 6th, 2025, Palo Alto High School squared off against Wilcox in a battle for the winning record. Both teams entered the game at a risk of going .500/below.

(w/loss – PALY – 1-3-1, Wilcox – 3-3-2)

With this in mind, both teams were determined to play each other tough. In the first half, this proved to be true as another scoreless half occurred for Palo Alto. However, as the game progressed, this changed.

Early in the 2nd half, Wilcox struck first with an impressive shot coming from the far side of the field. Then, PALY was able to tie it up in the late stages of the game, stemming from a play that started with a corner kick. Then, Wilcox was able to deliver a knockout punch to solidify a 2-1 victory.

Following the game, Sophomore Brian Chung said “we need to play better.”
