Coming off a close loss to Saratoga, the Vikings bounced back on Wednesday, defeating the Santa Clara Bruins 4-0.
The Vikings started off hot with their first goal coming just three minutes into the first quarter. The early goal gave the Vikings momentum, which they carried throughout the rest of the game.
Throughout the second and third quarters, the Vikings maintained possession and had multiple shots on goal but struggled to score against the tough Bruins’ defense.
“Santa Clara had very strong defense, especially in their circle,” senior Nina Faust said.
The Vikings were able to score three more goals by focusing on ball movement and creating better shot opportunities. The Vikings were able to play clean offensively, which led them to victory.
“Our offensive group did a good job keeping possession of the ball, catching rebounds, and moving the ball around,” Faust said.
On the other end, the Viking defense was able to lock down the Bruin offense for the entire game and didn’t allow a single goal.
“I think the team played well together,” Faust said. Coming off of senior night, we were very energetic and channeled that into the game.”
With the victory, the Vikings look to carry their momentum into the final games of the season before CCS play begins.
