Boys Tennis looks to pick up right where they left off last season, as they look to take the league this season. They placed second last year, losing a pair of matches to league winner Mountain View.

The team has been training intensely for the last few weeks and are ready to see the results of training translate into actual matches.

“We are looking forward to every match as we would like to win league this year and have a nice good bye gift for our underclassmen with a promotion to the De Anza league next year,” senior Ayush Singh said.

The team has changed all around, as with every team within a new season, as graduation changes everything.

“I think our team changing it’ll benefit our team as we got some really good incoming freshmen and the sophomores have improved from last season,” said Singh. “It hurts a little bit to lose last year’s seniors as they were really good but our underclassmen made up for it with the inspiring potential that they’ve shown so far.”

With the team looking different from last year, players are looking to build a strong connection in order to propel them to a strong season.

“[We are] definitely looking to improve our team chemistry as a whole,” junior Dhruv Shetty said. “We got some really good new players who have given us a spark, and I think we can have a really good year.”

They also look to go further in CCS this year, as they lost to Los Altos in the second round last year as an unseeded competitor.

“I believe we will be able to qualify for CCS again this year, and hopefully be able to get further than we got last year, being able to make it to the quarterfinals,” Singh said.

The team kicks off their season, playing their first match against Lynbrook.
