The Palo Alto Varsity Softball team faced Lynbrook high school in an exciting softball game at Paly on Wednesday, April 23rd. The Vikings bounced back from their loss against Saratoga last week, winning 14-2 against Lynbrook high school.
Paly continued their winning streak against Lynbrook, with their 7th consecutive win against the team.
The game endured five innings, with Paly particularly standing out during the first and third innings with seven and five runs.
According to junior, Emily Stell, sophomore, Kendall Butler and junior, Kensie Pao were standout players.
“Kendall did a really good job switching positions to her non-normal position,” Stell said. “Also, Kensie Pao had really good sliding at base.”
Despite the impressive win, Stell firmly believes there is still improvement to be made within the team, specifically when the players go up to bat with the intention to bunt, a technique where the batter hits the ball softly in order to further advance the runners on base.
“I think what could have helped our team is if we waited more on the bunts rather than being impatient and stabbing at it,” Stell said.
Another standout player was senior and team captain, Riannah Soliman, who had three runs and three RBI’s. Stell believes that Soliman helped guide the team’s energy, which ultimately led to a win.
“There was really good cheering,” Stell said. “The energy was up and it was a fun game to play.”
Overall, the Vikings pulled out an extraordinary win against Lynbrook high school and looking forward, they will rematch Saratoga at Saratoga high school on Friday at 5 p.m.
