The girls’ varsity track and field team won a close 75-71 match against Los Gatos on March 31st.
It is still the beginning of their season, so the girls are still finding the rhythm and motivation to meet their personal goals.
“The Los Gatos meet went well for me. I personally PR’d (personal record) and ran well overall,” Kailia Lemming (‘26) said.
Many of the varsity girls performed well in this meet and set personal records, while still using this meet as a learning opportunity for future meets.
Sophomore Julie Yang said, “it was my first meet that I broke 16 seconds in the hurdles, which I not only PR’d by almost a second, but gave me more confidence in my ability to outperform what I initially thought would be impossible to achieve.”
It is without doubt the Los Gatos meet was a huge win, boosting the confidence and morale of the competitors. Although the varsity girls’ team won, the junior varsity girls and the boys’ team didn’t end up performing as well, losing their matches.
Overall, it was a great meet, full of great performances and awesome learning opportunities. Come out and support the Vikings at the De Anza Trials on April 29th!
