Twenty girls from Paly Track and Field competed in the intense SCVAL meet on Saturday, vying for a spot in the CCS semi-finals.
This meet was more intense and challenging than usual, as the stakes were high. Sophomore Yulie Yang said, “The SCVAL meet was extremely fast paced, considering there were only two heats per event, so my events were all very back to back.”
Additionally, the 85-degree weather took a toll on many young athletes. “The meet went well; it was really warm, making performance difficult. Many people passed out or fainted after their races,” Kalia Lemming (‘26) said.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, Paly athletes persevered. “I qualified for the 100 hurdles, the 100m dash, and our 4×100 relay, where we had a big personal record. Overall, our girls’ team did phenomenal, where we qualified for all three varsity girls’ relays,” Yang said.
