Paly Varsity Badminton crushed Homestead 20-10 on Tuesday, March 31st. They have had a successful season so far and have worked hard to earn their spot.
Senior Adam Fong highlights a factor of the team’s success,
“I think because this was our second game with the school, most of the team went in with more confidence and that really helped us,” Fong said.
Fong and his partner have worked hard all season to refine their skills and strengthen their collaboration.
Reflecting on the match, Fong is proud of his performance, as well as the rest of the teams success. They have worked hard to bounce back from a trio of losses and hope to see the fruit of their effort in the future.
The badminton team is indeed more than halfway through their season, showing an impressive record of comebacks and hard-fought matches. Being able to have the experience of previously facing their opponents allows a sense of familiarity for the team, letting the players focus on certain aspects of their play in order to dominate the other side.
Additionally, the team consists of many seasoned players who play for club teams outside of the high school season, Annie Meng showcases a fun aspect of playing in Paly’s league,
“I do believe these games are a really good opportunity to meet friends (especially from competitive badminton) that I only get to see once every few months” senior Annie Meng said.
This premise not only makes the matches more fun but also fuels Paly’s competitive spirit.
As the team looks towards the end of the season they are expected to continue dominating in the league. They are excited to face Wilcox for the second time on April 2nd!
