Paly baseball beat Homestead 7-6 on Friday, March 13, at Palo Alto High School.
The Vikings were coming off a dominant 14-0 win against Homestead just two days prior, and they went into the game hoping for a similar result.
Unfortunately, Homestead got out to an early lead and kept the Vikings from scoring as the score was 3-0 in favor on Homestead entering the bottom of the seventh inning.
“I think we went into the game expecting to win easily and that mindset made us a little lazy and unfocused,” junior Rex Martin said. “This led to us making many mistakes we normally would not make.”
The Vikings managed to pick it up and tie the score up 6-6 going into the bottom of the ninth inning, and Martin would hit a walk-off home run to secure the victory for the Vikings.
The Vikings will next head to Menlo-Atherton and look to keep their momentum and also improve their record to 4-4.
