Paly baseball lost to Los Gatos 8-4 on March 27.
The Vikings stayed close early and kept themselves in the game for much of the first few innings, but Los Gatos pulled away later and made the most of its opportunities. Paly showed some sparks offensively and kept the game in arms reach at the beginning, but the Wildcats came through in key moments and kept the pressure on as the innings went on.
Paly had a chance to stay within reach, but Los Gatos answered when they needed to and made it difficult for the Vikings to build momentum. Even with the loss, Paly competed well against one of the stronger teams on its schedule and stayed competitive, more than the final score might suggest.
“We stayed in it, but they made the big plays and we could not answer,” junior Justin Fung said. The Vikings will look to bounce back in their next game and clean up the small mistakes that proved costly against a tough Los Gatos team.
