Paly baseball lost to Saint Ignatius College Prep 9-1 on Tuesday, March 10.
The Vikings faced one of the top teams in the Bay Area, but Saint Ignatius took control early and built a big lead in the opening innings. Paly struggled to generate offense for most of the game and had trouble slowing down Saint Ignatius at the plate, which made it difficult to build any momentum as the game went on. The Vikings later broke through when the bases were loaded and junior Kavan Zia brought in the team’s only run.
“They scored first and they ran the score up to around 6-0, the bases were loaded and I hit a low ball and we were able to score,” Zia said. “Then they kind of ran away with it at the end.”
That was Paly’s only run, as Saint Ignatius answered and pulled away late to hand the Vikings a tough early season loss. Even so, Paly was able to avoid the shutout and will look to bounce back in its next game.
