The Paly boys’ tennis 2025 season didn’t live up to their hopes for the season, but they made the most of what they had. Unfortunately, the team was unable to secure any wins this season. Nevertheless, the team learned a lot from this past year and has high hopes for next season.
“I think that our season was a good learning experience for us as a team despite the outcome,” sophomore Azad Muralidhara said.
After an amazing season last year, winning the El Camino Division, the team was bumped up to the De Anza Division. This was a very big step up for the Boys’ tennis team as they had high hopes for the season.
Throughout the season, however, the team faced many challenges, including moving up a division such as getting a new coach and losing many key seniors from last year. This shook up the team as they navigated through this season.
“The competition was definitely much harder in our new division,” sophomore Azad Muralidhara said.
The team was faced with a completely new level of competition in addition to all the other challenging factors that affected their gameplay.
“Are team also struggled with many injuries throughout the season,” sophomore Azad Muralidhara said.
Having injured players created inconsistency and confusion amongst the team because players are unsure who will be able to play to their full capability or even at all.
This is yet another issue that players felt stumped their success during the season. However, despite this, they were still able to keep a positive attitude.
“We know what we need to work on for next season,” sophomore Azad Muralidhara said.
Having this experience can be seen as an amazing learning opportunity for the team. Because many of the players that make up the team are younger, they are going to be able to carry these experiences to next year and hopefully push for better results.
Even though during this season the team was feeling pretty down after losing their games, they are that much more motivated to do better next season. The team will be more familiar with the coach, league, and their teammates after their experiences this year. Overall, this season has brought the team closer together and provided them with the tools they need to learn and improve for next season.
In conclusion, the team hopes they can come together and build on their growth as they prepare for the next season.
