Paly girls lacrosse faced the Los Gatos Wildcats at home on April 18 in a narrow, intense, overtime game.
The Vikings won a close, competitive game by a score of 7-6 in favor of Paly.
The Vikings came into the game with Los Gatos marked on their schedule as a huge game and knew that it would be a tough matchup and a hard fought game.
“We had been looking forward to the game against Los Gatos for a couple of weeks since we did pretty well earlier in the season when we played them, but we definitely still expected it would be a tough game,” senior Lucy Griffin said.
The Vikings were able to stay in the game up until halftime, which is when the belief that they could bring home a win swept over the team.
“As we finished out the first half, we realized we actually had a chance to beat them and I think this energy is what pulled us through the rest of the game, especially for some of us upperclassmen who had played for 4 years and never beat them,” senior Lucy Griffin finished.
The Vikings channeled that energy into composure and execution in the fourth quarter and overtime, leading to their clutch win.
The team looks to finish out the season strong with games Mountain View, Wilcox, and Gunn.
