Paly Boys Basketball Defeats Overfelt Tuesday Evening

Hillary Studdert, Business Manager

The Paly boys basketball team defeated Overfelt by a score of 50-41 in their first home game Tuesday evening.

The game began with a lot of back and forth through the first quarter, ending with the Viking’s ahead by a point. In the second quarter, the team cleaned up their play and dramatically outscored Overfelt.

“We were able to pull away moving into half time and carry that energy into the second half,” senior captain Jackson Martin said.

The team went into the second half with a 28-18 lead and were able to hold on for the win.

“It definitely wasn’t the prettiest game,” senior captain Mert Yanar said. “We had a lot of ups and downs but in the end we got the win and that’s what matters.”

Junior Tyler Frick expressed similar sentiments.

“We were a little disappointed by the quality of play but we’re happy to get a win and improve to 2-0,” Tyler Frick said.

The team improves to 2-0 and plays Sequoia High School next on Thursday night.
