On Saturday, the boy’s varsity basketball team played against Mountain View Highschool and won 55-47.

Paly athletes knew that this would be a close game, and they would have to come together as a team to pull off a win.

“We came together during practices, and we definitely played as a team, both offensively and defensively. I’m very proud of how we did,” Alaap Nair (‘24) said.

The game on Saturday night showed how dedicated both teams were to win this game. The score remained close throughout the four quarters.

The game started off with Mountain View being in the lead at the end of the first quarter by 15-11. However, this quickly changed as Paly took the lead by halftime with a score of 25-21.

“At halftime, we were up, and we just needed to keep that lead. So getting shots up every possession. Our shots going in. We just need to keep that momentum,” Alaap Nair (‘24) said.

A significant portion of Paly’s win could be attributed to how the team capitalized on the free throws they were receiving.

“We knew they were a very aggressive team, and we knew from the start that we’ll be getting a lot of free throws. We’ve been working on them every day during practice,” Nair (‘24) said.

The team’s ability to score off the free throws showed as they held their lead and momentum through the second half of the game.

Despite the win on Saturday night, the team realized there were still many areas where they could improve.

“We had trouble getting into our offense, and we need to work on moving the ball around to get the shot. But I think we did a pretty good job offensively and defensively; it was a great win overall,” Nair (‘24) said.

The team hopes to continue working hard during practices and prepare for their upcoming match against Los Altos.
