Palo Alto girls soccer continued their dominant 4-1 season with a 6-1 win against Santa Clara on Thursday night. Paly’s strong start is setting them up well as the season continues. The Vikings have had a few key matchups thus far, including a win over Wilcox and a hard-fought loss against Sacred Heart Prep.
Leading up to the game against Santa Clara, the team was feeling confident and assured in their ability to clinch the win.
“We’ve had a really good season so far so going into the game we were excited and ready to give it our all,” junior Luiza Teixeira said.
The team did just that with an offensively dominant first half that they were able to protect for the rest of the game.
“During the first half we were winning 4-0 and the team was working really well on maintaining the ball and maintaining control,” Teixeira said.
Despite their hard work, Santa Clara put up a tough fight with determination to beat the Paly team.
“Even though Santa Clara was really aggressive and working really hard, the team worked even harder to maintain possession and quality during the game,” Teixeira said.
With more league play to come, Paly will look to keep building momentum against their upcoming opponents, including critical games against Mountain View, Los Gatos, Gunn and more. Overall, the team is excited to play the 6-3 Los Altos team on Tuesday January 13th and they are looking forward to the rest of their season.
