On Friday, Dec 12, Palo Alto girls basketball dealt with a tough loss against Menlo with the final score being 38-45 in favor of the Knights. Although the Vikings record were at a more than respectable 3-1 going into the game, this game ended up being the second loss in a row for them as they also lost to Aragon three days prior.
According to Junior Katie McCue, the Vikings did not start off the game well and the Knights capitalized off that, getting out to an early lead.
“After a tough start, it’s always really hard to come back climbing an uphill battle,” McCue said.
The team’s main struggle was figuring out ways to score as the Vikings had a hard time finding the shots they wanted.
The Vikings did a solid job when defending Menlo in the half-court but the Palo Alto offense is what really allowed the Knights to score so often. The Vikings were worn out after quick turnovers led to fast-break points for their opponent.
With plenty of games still left remaining in the regular season, the Vikings look forward to their matchup against Pajaro Valley who have a record of 1-2. Although Pajaro Valley has lost their last two games, this game should still be a challenge for the Vikings.
