The gender battle

The+gender+battle
In a broad spectrum, compared to women, men are bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic. This is not to say that women are lesser, or should be treated with any less respect.
Because of these prominent traits in men, their games are often played quickly and physically, making them sports much more enjoyable to watch.
In some sports like lacrosse, when separated into genders, they almost seem like completely different sports- the rules change, the equipment change and as expected, intensity plays a factor as well. For a sport like soccer, the rules and equipment don’t change when crossing the gender barrier,  yet the game is still more intense on the men’s side. It’s not that women care less or don’t try as hard, it is the few traits that men acquire more easily, men just happen to be more intense. When scrimmaging for practice, it is a general rule of thumb that the girls team should be a year older to make the competition fair. Out on the pitch with juniors, I was one of the smallest kids and it was a struggle. They pushed harder, ran faster, and jumped higher.
It’s difficult to judge how different the men’s game is until out on the field in the middle of it. Playing with or against men clearly improves my game and the competitive edge makes it more fun.
I would rather watch men’s sports, and judging just by the soccer leagues, the rest of the world agrees. MLS is still playing and has loyal followers, whereas Women’s Major League Soccer is off and on due to poor attendance, resulting in insufficient funds.
This is not about men being superior to women, the realm of sports is a men’s world. I understand having a sense of pride, women and girls constantly try to defend themselves saying that they are just as athletic and play the same exact sport as the men do.  It’s not hard to find a woman that’s more athletic and better at sports than a man, but in a broader spectrum men control the world of sports. More men watch sports, more men play sports, and more men are better at sports. Striving for respect in the world of sports should be the main goal, not trying to show up men’s sports.
No matter how hard we try, women’s sports will never take the place of men’s sports on the sideline or center field, but there is a place for it somewhere.
