After a season opening loss to Saint Ignatius, Paly was drilled in, ready for their home opener against Overfelt (San Jose, CA). The Vikings came out strong leading at the end of the first quarter 13-0. They kept the momentum going into the second quarter scoring 20 more points and only giving up 8 ending the half with a score of 33-8. Second half was more even with both teams scoring 14 points in the second half ending the game with a great vikings win and a score of 47-8.

Team captain and a senior Jamir Shepard (’20) had an outstanding game with 4 touchdowns and over 200 receiving yards. “This was everyone, everyone did their part and we came out with the dub, it’s never someone on their own,” Shepard said, “This game is over, it’s a good win, but now we gotta work on what we can do better for next game, we are going to continue to keep doing the same thing. Work hard in practice and let it pay off in the game.”

Sophomore Danny Peters (’21) made his quarterback debut, going off for 6 throwing touchdowns with over 200 total yards. “I just try not to focus on the crowd and instead focus on my plays and my throws”, Peters said. “I’m going to work hard in practice and make sure I know my plays and routes to throw in the game, going day by day”.

The Vikings are hoping to add on to their win record in their next upcoming game on Friday, September 13th, at 7:00 pm, going up against Pioneer High School (San Jose, CA).
