Paly Girls Varsity Volleyball played a tight game against the Los Altos Eagles, on Thursday, September 14th in the Peery Gym. The fast pace plays kept the fans on their feet for all five sets.

The Vikings started out with an advantage after winning the first set, but the Eagles were able to match their energy in the second set, bringing them to a tie. After rigorous play in the third set, the Vikings took the lead again at 2-1

The Eagles were able to swipe the fourth set, despite Jess Watanbe’s (‘23) outstanding saves and some strong attacks from outside hitter Amelia Vugrincic (‘22). This led the teams into an energized fifth set, on behalf of both the players and the fans.

The girls had a strong start in the fifth set right off the bat after going on a five-point streak. It may not seem like a lot, but it gave the girl the momentum needed to keep fighting till the very last point.

The girls played in perfect harmony in the last moments, picking up every ball. Olivia Harrison scored multiple outstanding kills, one being the winning point, ending the final set 15-12.

Coach Chris Crader acknowledged the Eagles as tough competition in past years and saw this win as a great start to the week.

“There were a few more unforced errors and our defense had its faults, but they found a way to win and I am proud of them,” said Coach Crader

Both the players and the coach look forward to this weekend’s tournament and games to come with another victory under their belt.
