The Palo Alto High School girls’ lacrosse team (10-4, 9-1) will take on Leland High School (6-5-1, 3-2-1) at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Paly lacrosse field, hoping to defeat the Chargers for the second time this season.

The Vikings currently have a winning record in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League and hope to continue that on Friday. Sophomore defender Maddie Hare (‘18) attributes the team’s success to their coordination skills and togetherness.

“Individually, all of our players are extremely good and together we know each other’s strengths and how to benefit each other,” Hare said.

The Lady Vikes are heading into Friday’s game after a tough loss against Mountain View High School (7-4, 5-3) on Wednesday. They will be playing without their captains and head goalkeeper, however, Hare does not see this as much of a problem.

“It’s definitely going to be difficult, but we have Mattie Orloff (‘18) in the goal and she’s going to do amazing and we’re going to win,” Hare said.

The Chargers, who have struggled to a 6-5-1 overall record in the season, barely lost at a home conference against the Vikings, 13-12, on March 30th. However, Hare still believes that the team has it in them to defeat Leland High School for the second time.

“It will be a close game, but last time we just weren’t really motivated. Coming into this game we will be fierce, and we’re going to pull it out,” Hare said.
