In their final home game of the regular season the lady vikes defeated Lynbrook in three sets on Tuesday at Gunn High School.

It was senior night and the volleyball team honored their 2017 class that includes Katie Passarello (‘17), Fiona Green (‘17), Cassandra Fong (‘17), and Jessica Lee (‘17).  To cap off this special night for the four graduating seniors, the ladies won the match taking set one, 25-23, set two, 25-14, and set three, 25-21.

Coach Jekara Wilson, who said she had been with this group even before they entered the Paly volleyball program, commented on the quality of leadership they brought to the table.

“This senior class is a bunch of really spectacular ladies,” Wilson said.  “I’ve known them since they were in seventh grade.  I’ve coached a lot of them prior to them being at Paly, and I can’t believe they are seniors.  They have provided so much leadership to this program, especially with two of them being on varsity since they were freshmen.”

Passarello (‘17), who had one block, two kills, and an ace, talked about her experience as a volleyball player at Paly and what it will be like after she graduates this coming spring.

“It has been a lot of fun,” Passarello said.  “We have a really solid program.  We have always had really good athletes and some great coaches so being a part of it has been a blast.  I think each year, I’ve been able to contribute a different part of me to the team.  Freshmen year; a lot of cheering on the bench and as I’ve gotten older and older, being able to contribute more on the court as well.  Its been fun to grow with the program so it’s going to be weird not being in the gym a lot for Paly but, I’m definitely going to come back to games and watch as the program continues to grow.

Chelsea Fan (‘18) also contributed ten kills and three aces in the win.  She commented on her experience with this year’s senior class.

“When I first made it on the team I was kind of nervous,” Fan said.  “They were really nice to me and now we have, over the past three years, become really good friends so it will be really sad seeing them leave.”

The team’s next matchup is against Monta Vista on Thursday, October 27.
