Out of the dugout and into the gray atmosphere Dean Casey (‘20) stepped onto the mound with his eyes locked in on the catcher. His focus and determination did not wane all game as he completed one of the most impressive feats in baseball; a no-hitter.

Casey led the 1-0 victory against Sacred Heart Preparatory with five strikeouts, while only letting two people on base the entire game.

The defensive battle was finally settled during the bottom of the seventh when Ritter Amsbaugh (‘21) hit a pop-up allowing Aidan Berger (‘21) to score from third. The walk-off win advanced the Viking’s baseball team to 3-2 this season, winning the last three games they have played.

“Our offense came out short, the other pitcher was definitely someone we could hit, but Dean just kept throwing strikes,” Hyunwoo Roh said.”They just couldn’t hit him.”

Casey mixed up his pitches well and successfully shut out Sacred Heart. The boys look to keep the win streak alive as they take on Cupertino High School on Wednesday in a home conference game. Joshua Kasevich (‘19) will be on the mound for the Vikings.
