Paly Varsity Boys Baseball defeated Saint Francis 4-0.

The game stayed 0-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning, where Coco Vonderhaar (’25) and Nate Donaker (’24) scored the first two runs of the game, putting them in a lead that continued for the rest of the game.

“This game was very good and our pitching really set the tone,” Donaker said.

Pitcher Henry Harding (’25) threw a shutout and has been put to the test but excelled, shutting down the Lancers throughout the top of every inning.

Later on in the game, Charlie Bates (’24) hit a home run, giving way to two runs batted in, and putting the Vikings a 4-point lead.

With a solid 3-2 record just 5 games into the season, the team still has a long way to go.

“Overall our season has been solid and we have been improving every game,” Donaker said.

Sophomore Joseph Kessler agrees, putting more perspective on the season as a whole.

“We have played some very talented teams to open up the season, which has been a very good test for us, but the chemistry and the passion are excellent, especially for such a young team,” Kessler (’25) said. “It’s going to be very exciting to see how the rest of the season plays out.”
