The Palo Alto Volleyball team faced off against the Saratoga Falcons Tuesday night in a league matchup. The Vikings won in three sets.

Katie Passarello (’17) was happy with the overall performance and the quick victory.

“I think we did a good job shutting them out in three.” Passarello said. “They weren’t our biggest opponent, but it made sure that we stayed disciplined.”

Paly started off the first set slow, with the Falcons leading 5-1 early on. The Vikings came surging back later in the set to take a 11-10 lead. The Vikings continued to extend their lead after that, and eventually won the first set 25-18.

The Vikings carried over their momentum from the first set and came out strong in the second set, going on a 10-2 run to start. After a brief stop in the game due to a Falcons player injury, the Vikings continued to play well, pulling ahead to a 21-9 lead before winning the set 25-14.

The Vikings kept on rolling in the third set, starting off with a 9-4 lead. After the Vikings pulled ahead to a 16-7 lead the Falcons began to show some fight, bringing it back to 18-15. The Falcons continued to play well late and pulled within one point of the Vikings at 21-20. Despite the Falcons late effort, Paly managed to hold on for a 25-21 win.

Jessica Lee (’17) was also happy with her team’s performance, but still saw room for improvement in the future.

“We had pretty good offense.” Lee said. “I think something we could definitely work on is staying focused, starting stronger and finishing the game sooner.”

Next, the Vikings face off in a rivalry game with the Gunn Titans on Thursday October 29 at 6:45 pm.
