The Paly Vikes lost 8-4 today against their hometown rival, Gunn High School.

The Vikings fell behind early, conceding 4 goals to the Titans before Dexter Gormley (‘20) scored the Vikes’ first goal, making it 4-1.

After that point, Gunn started to pull away further, scoring another two goals before Jack Andersen (‘18) brought one back, making it 6-2.

The Titans had some spectacular goals, including heaving long shots into the back of the net. On the other hand, the Vikes had some very unfortunate shots that hit off the post with no success.

The seemingly only fortunate player for the Vikes was Andersen, who came back with two more goals after Gunn scored two more of their own after Andersen’s first goal, making it the final score of 8-4.

Overall, the fierce competitiveness between the two rival teams made for a tough game, with players fighting individual battles in hope to help their team.

The Vikings’ next game is on Saturday, October 7, at Menlo-Atherton.
