Girls’ Volleyball Wins at home against Monte Vista

Paly girls’ volleyball had a decisive victory over Monte Vista Thursday night, winning three sets to one. This win comes just two days after a hard fought battle with Los Altos.

They have been on a winning streak lately, winning their last 6 contests. Their recent success is mostly thanks to how they have been playing as at a team and deceiving their opponents.

The Vikings started off slow and we were not on the top of their game early, but they stayed close and continued to fight. It looked a little scary for the Vikes in the middle but they fought out a victory.

“We were a little shaky early, especially in the second set but we got it together by the end” Mallory Kuppe (‘19).

Sophomore Mia Gibbs has been phenomenal this season, and upperclassmen are taking notice to her importance to the team.

“Mia had some amazing hits, we could not have won without her.” Kuppe said.

If not for a few tough losses to some really good teams like St. Ignatius and Menlo this year Paly would be undefeated. Coach Daniele Desiro is a big reason why, he has played volleyball at the highest of levels and wants to use that to his team’s advantage.

The Vikings continue their path to a league title with an away game against Homestead High School, the vikes won their first match up easily three sets to none.
