Palo Alto girls tennis lost to Cupertino on October 20th by a score of 4-3.

With only a third of their season remaining before CCS playoffs, Paly girl’s tennis was ranked fifth in the league with a record of 6-7 as they approached their match the best team in the league, the Cupertino Pioneers.

After Cupertino got out to a commanding 4-0 lead, the Vikings were almost able to make a complete comeback, but unfortunately, the Vikings suffered a close loss of 4-3.

“It was a really close match but we ended up losing to Cupertino, which is the top team in our league so it was a really great showing for us!” said Senior Captain Riya Dedatta.

While disappointed with losing such a close match the team feels good about their performance, keeping the match close and competitive with an opponent as strong as Cupertino.

After a narrow defeat to the best team in the league, the Vikings have felt a boost of confidence, knowing that they can keep matches close and possibly win against anyone in their league. They now feel that they will be more successful for the remainder of their season, especially in close matches.

The Vikings have a record of 6-8 after this game but hope to improve this before the CCS playoffs. They have already have clinched a berth in the CCS playoffs but more wins will give them higher seedings in the playoffs.
