As the 2023-2024 wrestling season begins, the team is looking forward to working hard and taking on the upcoming competition. Throughout the summer and fall, the team has been training and preparing for the season.

The team’s first competition was on December 2, at San Benito High School. The team has five dual meets and five other meets, culminating with SCVAL finals, regional finals, CCS championships and CIF state championships.

Despite the fierce competition that the team will face this season, the team anticipates a successful season. Junior Tasman Johnson highlighted the team’s goals for the season.

“As a team, we want to be top five in CCS, as an individual for all of the varsity wrestlers is to qualify for the California State Tournament“, Johnson said.

Despite the fact that no Paly wrestlers made it to the CIF state championship in 2023, the team hopes to continue the legacy of Paly grads Cade Creighton (‘22) and Ella Jauregui (‘22) who both placed competitively in the 2022 state championship. The team hopes to accomplish this by continuously working hard through the next few months.

“I’m looking forward to competing as a team, getting better”, Johnson said.

Paly Wrestling has a bright future ahead, full of sweat, hard work, and a whole lot of wins. Sko Vikes!
