After going 8-25 in the 2024 season, the Vikings are looking to bounce back for the 2025 season. With many seniors graduating after last season, underclassmen like Hiro Kenehan and Tiam Maurstad are going to have to step up if the program is going to improve.
The team struggled even more in league during the 2024 season, going 1-14, with their one win being against Fremont, after losing their first two matchups earlier in the season.
“We have been putting in work all off season,” Kenehan said, “I love this team and our chemistry is going to help us get to where we want.”
Kenehan spent the 2024 season on Junior-Varsity, and excelled enough to make varsity in year two.
Team chemistry is often overlooked, however Kenehan believes that it is the key to a successful campaign for the volleyball team.
After a season of varsity as a freshman, Tiam Maurstad is looking to improve during year two. “Our goal is to have a winning season,” Maurstad said “after the work we put in since last year, I definitely think we are good enough to do that.”
The team certainly has an easier schedule this year, after being moved down from the SCVAL – El Camino league after their poor performance last year.
Despite being relegated, the Vikings are not deterred, and want to make this year one to remember.
“We are still playing some great schools like Los Gatos, so we need to be prepared for them,” sophomore Ben Kim said.
With 3 new freshmen on the team, and another year of experience for their rising players, the Vikings are going to look to make some noise in their new league.
