The Vikings took down the Eastside College Prep Panthers Wednesday, March 12th. It was a divisional game and the first of three matches planned between the opponents for the season.
The score was a clean 3-0 sweep for the Vikings, and the team has now won the first 3 of 4 matches this season.
Sophomore Tiam Maurstad thought that this was one of the team’s best performances that he’s seen, “We were really working as a unit, we made few mistakes and that was crucial for us,” Kim said.
Sophomore Ben Kim was happy to see the successful start to the season for the Vikings, as he was extremely disappointed with how the team performed in the season prior. “It feels really good to win, especially in such a dominating way”.
This was the teams first game within their new division, and it shows how much potential the team has for the rest of the season.
The score of the first set was 15-25 Paly, “The key is getting out to a hot start, once we do that it’s pretty easy to maintain our momentum,” Maurstad said.
They certainly maintained their momentum, as the team only allowed 11 points and then 17 points in the following two sets, before their victory.
Looking ahead, the teams will meet again in one week, so it will be interesting to see if the Panthers can get a read on the Vikings.
